These are some photos of
the RCRC cleanup team that tackled the Coalmine Trail. This team was Kevin
Burchee, John South, Jason Chandler (all in a nice topless Wagoneer), Chris Shue*
(1 ton Chevy), Hugh Williams (tan TJ), Spencer Williams (red TJ), Steve and
Emily Phillips and Sara and Margaret (dark blue TJ - thanks for escorting the
garbage truck home!) and Doc Elliott* and Scott Mead* (F250 and trailer - da
garbage truck).

if I missed anyone or misspelled a name!)
We got about 1/3 way of the rocky part of the trail before it became real obvious that we weren't going to have enough truck/trailer capacity to haul everything out, so we went on up the trail to the big clearing and cleaned that up. We ran into the fellow who owns most of the lower part of this land. He was really surprised and thankful that we were doing some cleanup. Later, as we were tying everything down on the truck and trailer and getting ready to leave, another landowner came by and shook our hands and thanked us repeatedly for the effort. "It ain't the same mountain!" he said.
We had a second team that took on the Killingsworth Cove trail, hoping that both teams would meet up at the top. There was too much trash on both sides for either team to handle.
We are going to have to go back and finish the job. The coalmine trail will need about three times what we hauled out today to get everything on the main trail leading up to the clearing. Then there's all the various clearings and meeting spots on top, and on the powerlines. I wish people would stop trashing the place.
Thanks again to all the club visitors.
